Before you start skating in any fresh meat program, you will need the required protective equipment.

The required equipment includes:

• Mouth Guard
• Knee pads
• Elbow pads
• Wrist Guards
• Helmet

To play roller derby you will need to skate on quad roller skates. Inline skates are only allowed to be worn by referees.

There are a number of roller derby skate shops and roller dromes that stock the equipment necessary to play roller derby. They often do special deals or fresh meat packs to help get you started.Or there is the often of buying gear second hand through websites such as ebay or gumtree to save some pennies.
